  1. A camel is a large cud-chewing MAMMAL.
  2. It has two toes which have broad soft soles
  3. for walking on sand, and hooves resembling 
  4. nails. There are just two species, the 
  5. single-humped Arabian camel and the 
  6. twin-humped Bactrian camel from Asia. Camels
  7. carry a food reserve of fatty tissue in their
  8. hump, and can go without drinking for very 
  9. long periods. Camels can also feed on salty
  10. vegetation, and withstand extremes of heat 
  11. and cold, thus being well adapted to desert
  12. conditions.
